A system suitable for monitoring sewage pump station pumps, capable of monitoring the operating time and power consumption of built-in pumps, measuring system pressure values and sewage levels. It continuously monitors the operating status of the pump station and indicates the status of the built-in circuit breaker. It continuously monitors the operating status of the pump, indicating the status of the built-in circuit breaker.
Our WS IoT sewage pumping station monitoring system provides comprehensive monitoring of sewage pumping stations with wireless data collection and real-time online access. The system is suitable for continuous monitoring of pump operation, power consumption, pressure values, and sewage levels. Data processing enables preventive maintenance, early detection of faults, and significant cost reductions.
Object:
The aim of the project was to develop a modern, wireless data transmission-based monitoring system that enables real-time remote monitoring and analysis of the operation of sewage pumping stations. With this development, Debreceni Vízművek Zrt. aims to increase operational efficiency, reduce maintenance and repair costs, and introduce a predictive, data-driven approach to maintenance instead of preventive maintenance practices. Other key objectives included the possibility of coordinated operation of the pumping stations and strengthening service reliability through early fault detection and prevention of malfunctions.
The challenge
- Traditional monitoring of sewage pumping systems did not allow access to real-time data.
- Faults and malfunctions were often only detected late, when significant operational disruptions or costs had already occurred.
- Coordinated operation between pumping stations is difficult to achieve manually.
- Preventive maintenance did not always provide protection against unexpected failures.
Our solution
Installation of a modern WaterScope IoT system for Debreceni Vízművek Zrt. in Nyíradony in 2021.
- Wireless data transmission via LoRaWAN or NB-IoT network with secure cloud-based data collection.
- Continuous data collection and processing: pump operating time, power consumption, pressure values, wastewater level.
- Optionally expandable with water sensors to send flood warnings.
- Flexible alarm system: based on limit values and trend changes (e.g. increasing operating time, decreasing delivery performance).
- Coordinated monitoring with integration of multiple transfer pumps and meteorological data.
- Automatic report generation in daily/weekly/monthly breakdowns, exportable in XLS or CSV format.
The results
- Maintenance activities can be placed on a predictive basis, and most malfunctions can be prevented.
- Remote online monitoring of machine room operations has been simplified and made more efficient.
- Operating and maintenance costs have been significantly reduced and power consumption has been optimized.
- Pre-set thresholds and alarms have reduced the time and cost of troubleshooting.
- The coordinated operation of the various transfer systems has improved the responsiveness of the entire system.
Advantages of the system
Real-time monitoring and rapid fault reporting from multiple sites.
Predictive maintenance, which extends the service life of equipment.
Cost reduction through optimised energy consumption and maintenance.
User-friendly data management in various formats with customisable display.
Flexible integration with other systems and data (e.g. meteorological data).
Scalability: the system can be easily expanded to include additional lift stations or other water utility components.
